Wenzao FLOMO Light Up Dream Bilingual Learning Platform
Founder Shen believes that as technology advances, education is no longer confined to traditional classrooms and textbooks. Through the internet, the constraints of time and geography can be overcome, giving more people the opportunity to access quality educational resources. He hopes to use an online learning platform to serve learners with different goals—such as primary and secondary school beginners, and learners with tourism or business needs—by providing cross-context and cross-cultural learning that makes English learning easier and more enjoyable, while also cultivating the ability to learn independently.
Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages was founded in 1966 as the only Catholic university in southern Taiwan and the only specialized foreign-language university in the country. In recognition of Wenzao's many years of nurturing talent and advancing bilingual education, FLOMO and Wenzao joined hands to create the Wenzao FLOMO Light Up Dream Bilingual Learning Platform, combining education and technology to provide high-quality online courses and interactive learning tools.
1.1 Platform Overview

The "Wenzao X FLOMO Light Up Dream" nonprofit bilingual learning platform is jointly created by Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages and the FLOMO Education Foundation. It offers a wealth of online learning resources and aims to provide quality learning content for bilingual learners of all ages in Taiwan, with a diverse range of course topics.
Language is a vital tool for human communication, and the integration and development of global trade and culture rely all the more on a global language—English. Elevating the English skills and broadening the all-round knowledge of the people of Taiwan is therefore the platform’s most important core philosophy. Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages and the FLOMO Education Foundation believe that rich and diverse learning content not only enhances learners’ language abilities but also broadens their international outlook and cultivates well-rounded competitiveness. In step with the government’s 2030 Bilingual Policy, the platform makes an important contribution to nurturing internationally competitive professionals for the nation.

2.1 Course Introduction
The Light Up Dream bilingual learning platform offers diverse course content to meet the needs of learners of all ages. The courses span a wide range, from bilingual enlightenment education suitable for young children, to advanced learning for secondary and tertiary students, and even practical knowledge related to employment and entrepreneurship. Topics include English learning, global issues, technology applications, character education, and life and travel.
The platform flexibly applies English-as-Medium-of-Instruction (EMI) and Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) models, paired with Chinese and English subtitles, allowing learners to choose the content best suited to their personal level and learning goals. The comprehensive and flexible course design ensures that every learner can find learning resources that match their needs on the platform.
3.1 Learning the English Language
The success of bilingual education depends not only on learners' motivation but also, just as crucially, on the introduction of learning content and appropriate teaching methods. The platform divides its English courses into Basic Level, Lower-Intermediate Level, Intermediate Level, Upper-Intermediate Level, and Advanced Level, helping learners clearly identify their own English level and gradually build practical application skills.
Learning begins with a solid foundation in the alphabet and phonics, gradually connecting to everyday vocabulary and simple sentence patterns, and then advancing to higher-level vocabulary, concepts, and sentence patterns, ensuring that students can improve their English ability step by step.
3.2 Learning English for Specific Purposes
For learners who already have an advanced level of English, the platform plans to develop a series of English for Specific Purposes (ESP for Careers & Professions) courses. Tailored to learners working across different industries, these courses deepen workplace English proficiency and, in turn, strengthen employability and international mobility.
By 2022, Taiwan's semiconductor industry already accounted for 16.37% of GDP. The English for Specific Purposes course series will lead with English for the semiconductor industry, producing a series of courses over the next two years with a progressive design to strengthen learners' professional English in semiconductors. In addition, the second part of the series focuses on English for the Service Industry, covering: 1) tourism, 2) aviation, and 3) hospitality.
3.3 English Learning for Seniors
Taiwan is projected to become a super-aged society by 2025. FLOMO hopes to design basic English learning courses for older adults to improve their English communication skills, enabling them to use English more confidently in daily life. The course design takes into account the needs of senior learners, with content that is simple, easy to understand, practical, and grounded in real-life situations.
Founder Grandma Shen leads by example: at the age of 90, she continues to learn English, demonstrating energy and confidence while traveling abroad and in everyday life. She is the perfect model—learning English is a contemporary culture, and keeping up with the times can be truly stylish.
